Who We Are:
The Indiana Center for the Life Sciences is the result of a partnership between Ivy Tech Community College – Bloomington and Monroe County to construct a Center for Life Science Education and Training. Many of the courses provided at the center were developed through a collaborative effort between Monroe County, South Central Region 8 Workforce Board Inc., WorkOne, Ivy Tech Community College – Bloomington, Indiana University Bloomington Continuing Studies, and Bloomington Life Sciences Partnership (BLSP).
Our Goal:
We are preparing Hoosiers for jobs in the growing life sciences, biotech and biomanufacturing industries. Some examples of the kinds of jobs that are available now and for which we expect there to be an increased demand in the future include: medical product assembly, inventory logistics, laboratory operations, machine operations, and quality control. We also expect increased demand for managers with technical qualifications, engineers and advanced level technologists and scientists.
How We Can Help You:
The Indiana Center for the Life Sciences, in addition to providing biotechnology labs and classroom opportunities for Ivy Tech – Bloomington, also houses several courses and certificate training for entry-level, unemployed or laid off workers plus advanced training for those already employed in regional life science companies who want to upgrade their skills.
